We need a word for the circles of dead leaves that lie at the foot of Autumn trees - perfect round patches of bright red and orange against the green grass. The tree stands above, bare and exposed, like a girl standing on your bedroom floor for the first time, skirt pooled at her feet, naked and defiant and so goddamn beautiful. We need words for a lot of things still.
