luckyshirt: On Missing Someone... →
When we leave or lose someone for an hour or forever, missing them can be pretty horrible.
But sometimes I wonder about how fair we are being to ourselves when we let it get the best of us.
After all, we only miss people with whom we would like to spend more time.

Corpus Callosum has launched a Kickstarter project →
The band I am so happy to be in is looking for help funding our first full-length studio album.
In return for your donation, you can get things like never before released tracks from our back catalog, a poster, original artwork by me, Dax or Stephanie, and (obviously) a copy of the album when it’s finished.
Click on through to donate or to get more information.

Photoshop's CAF (content-aware fill) -...
o3:
John Nack posted a “sneak peek” of an upcoming Photoshop feature called Content-Aware Fill. There’s an impressive video as well.
Users are predictably drooling; some can’t even believe such a wonder is possible.
They can rest assured - it is possible and it has been around for years, e.g. in the GIMP plugin by Paul Harrison called Resynthesizer.
Here are some examples of what...

Him: Is that a mandolin?
Me: Yep!
Him: What does a mandolin sound like, cause I don't really know how it sounds different than a violin.
Me: Well it's tuned the same as a violin, but it has doubled strings and you play it with a pick. *strum strum pick pick strum*
Him: Oh, it sounds like a ukelele.

Drunk History Presents: Nikola Tesla
Drunk History is a series of history lessons taught by very, very drunk guys and acted out by some pretty famous names (Jack Black, Crispin Glover, Michael Cera). I have never laughed so hard during a history lesson.

When Books Could Change Your Life: Why What We... →
After reading this article, the books that come to mind are:
- Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (which I read over and over and over and over again)

And the ones that came later in life:
- Phillip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy

Yesterday. And then: Today!
Yesterday was soul crushing.
I went to a career seminar thingy to see about getting a job in a retail store. About half way through it, I started fantasizing about running out the door screaming, “OH GOD WHO AM I WHAT AM I DOING HERE?!?!” (For the record, I didn’t do it, but I was near crying on the bus ride home.)
So, if just sitting and listening to someone talk about a job...

Twitter: The Criterion Collection
What if Twitter… came to life?
We asked some of our friends to film their favorite tweets. We didn’t care how they did it. They could read it. They could act it. They could do it with puppets. Whatever they wanted. The only rules were it had to be a tweet written by someone else and it had to contain the entire tweet and nothing...
