(In the interest of catching up, I’ve skipped prompt #5 for now. I have a plan for it, but it’s going to require some time and driving to get it done, and the kind of time I need is in limited supply these days.)
Day 139 ~ January 17, 2012 & Guest Directed Self #2
Andrea’s direction and my old hobby/career skills have combined to make this. Beats by my brother, WNY.
So much radness.
My favorite thing about this video is that while Jordan was rendering it last night, he said possibly the nerdiest sentence that has ever been spoken to me:
“I just want to be suspended in some kind of detoxifying and nourishing goo while I edit video with my mind.”
Sorry it took me so long! I rarely go outside in the daytime, and my plans for night time strobe light madness were sadly unsuccessful. This one really made me work and I’m thankful for that.
So it seems the submissions for Andrea’s GDS are slowing down (don’t worry, as I understand it, you can still do Andrea’s and Molly’s GDS portraits if you missed them!)
For week 3 and my Guest Direction I want to you take a shower. Enjoy your shower however you care too, wash your hair, do a body scrub, just stand under the hot water, sing something, share that shower with someone. Once you are done your shower I want you to take your photo in natural or artificial light, showing as much or as little skin as you like, looking directly into the camera. That’s the key. Freshly showered, still damp, no makeup or styling or hair products, looking directly into the camera.
I felt bad for absentmindedly asking everyone to take their photos outside in the middle of winter, so I went out and froze my own toes in the Pacific as penance.
I had to watch out while spinning in the field… it was raining really heavy 5 minutes earlier and everything was really slippery and muddy. My boots will need a shower tomorrow…
So here we got motion in landscape… dancing into the big white…
As some of you know, almost all of the photos I take are of myself. This does not require giving direction to another person, so to say that I am unpracticed at it is a huge understatement. Because of this, I’ve decided against being as specific as Molly was.
It has been so amazing to see all the different interpretations of the last direction, and I hope you can have as much fun with this one!
The photo:
It should be landscape-oriented. Go outside somewhere, if you can. (Bonus points if it’s raining!) If you can’t take your photo outside for any reason, inside is fine, but in either case, show as much of your environment as possible. Show gratitude. Show movement.
That’s it!
Psssst! If you don’t already know about this project, check it out! And participate! :D
